“... A surround-sound experience on a grand scale. Was this the largest orchestra ever heard in the Royal Albert Hall?”

REACTION
“As an artwork it is profound. In execution it was compelling. Delivered by a team of top quality artists in harmony, with a common cause. The Yellow Wallpaper is opera with true purpose.”
OPERA NOW
“The Yellow Wallpaper is a work that creates a comfortable zone to reflect on the past, and discuss how we want things to be as we move forward. The protagonist’s journey through isolation highlights the need to communicate, and though it may trigger difficult conversations it can help us explore how we take better care of each other”
PLANET HUGILL
“This opera was a remarkable, confident step for both Dani Howard and The Opera Story… This felt very much like a personal project, the opera was the shape it was because the creators felt it should be like that, and this was a terrific evening in the theatre. Wisely, the company did not try to perform it with anything else, for a first outing, The Yellow Wallpaper was strong on its own.”
RPS Awards 2021
Dani Howard has just been named winner of the 2021 Royal Philharmonic Society Award in the Large-scale Composition Category.

London Premiere Of Coalescence With NYOGB
Read the reviews of the performance of “Coalescence” performed by NYO 3rd January 2022 here:
“The two pieces by young composers seemed tailor-made to fit the mood. Howard’s Coalescence created a picture of humans and nature “coalescing” into harmonious co-existence in radiant harmonies and swelling brass chorales, subsiding at one point to a calm in which the twitter and hoot of birds peeped through.”
“The London premiere of Dani Howard’s Coalescence had more for the orchestra to get its teeth into. It’s cleverly scored as it contrasts metallic sounds of the modern urban environment with more organic-sounding textures.”
